31 New Warehouses Strengthen The Hurst Group’s Distribution

Lexington, Kentucky — The Hurst Group announced today they have successfully moved three (3) of their warehouses to thirty-one (31) new warehouses spread across the USA. As shareholders of Independent Stationers, a national buying cooperative, Hurst’s product will now ship from strategically placed warehouses through a new relationship with United Stationers, a five (5) billion dollar office products logistics provider.

“Our relationship with United Stationers has strengthened our supply chain efficiencies to buy and ship products at a better cost. These savings allow our local sales teams to compete more effectively in today’s price competitive marketplace”, stated Tom Gormley; Vice President of The Hurst Group.

Customers will see another big change as Hurst now will adjust their private brand of products. The popular Legacy Brand (LOP) will be phased out and replaced with a stronger more competitive brand called Universal. Hurst will continue to market Legacy (LOP) for our copy paper and Laser and Ink Jet compatible products.

Gormley continued, The Universal product line is more extensive and competitive than our current Legacy line. The United partnership now allows us to take advantage of a stronger direct relationship with the manufacturers without middlemen markups increasing the cost.”

Although new Universal products will replace the current “LOP” as inventories are depleted, Hurst will be adopting the new Universal part numbers as of January 1, 2010. This will allow customer invoices, usage reports and pricing to maintain consistency throughout the transition. The process will be seamless for our customers, all LOP items will automatically sub to the new Universal numbers.
